Important update to the grooming and boarding vaccination requirements for 2026

ATTENTION!

Several months ago, we made a collective decision to update our grooming and boarding vaccination requirements. This change was prompted by a significant outbreak of canine influenza in Carroll County over the summer.

Canine flu is more serious than kennel cough (Bordetella). Recovery can take up to 8 weeks, and the virus can spread not only to other dogs, but potentially to pets in both your home and ours. Because the health and safety of all animals in our care is our top priority, we felt this update was necessary.

As soon as the decision was made, we provided advance notice by:

  • Posting signage on our front door
  • Sharing the update on Facebook
  • Handing out blue and later orange notification slips

We wanted to ensure our clients had as much time and information as possible to prepare.

Effective January 1,2026, all dogs receiving grooming or boarding services must be current on the following vaccinations:

  1. Rabies
  2. Bordetella
  3. Canine Influenza

Bordetella vaccinations are available here for a fee of $25. Rabies and canine influenza vaccines must be administered by your veterinarian.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to do everything we can to keep the pets in our care—and in your homes—healthy and safe.
